Listen to Radio over the net
Two basic types of Radio shows exists: Live Streaming and Live Broadcasting.
A) Live Streaming, the most common out there, allows you to listen to a show while it is transferred to your computer. More often it will require the Real Audio plug-in. Similar to pretaped radio shows in the traditional industry but with a plus: during a session you can jump to any part of the show by sliding along the scroll bar.
B) Live Broadcasting, less common, is more often used during concerts and one time events. The sounds and image are directly feeded to the Net while occuring on stage.
More and more Radio shows appear on the Internet and new technology allows for better quality, as well as tools.
WABS.NET created SIR (the Sunnymead Internet Radio). You can listen to all shows and some artists offer their CD that you can buy directly.
